The project "Urb.Energy - Energy Efficient and Integrated Urban Development Action", has been approved by the Monitoring Committee of the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 at its meeting in Copenhagen on 23 - 24 October 2008. You find more on the approved projects of the first call in the press release of the BSR Joint Secretariat.
Urb.Energy builds upon the results of the BEEN project, and combines the approach of integrated urban development with the energy efficient refurbishment of the building stock and the energy supply structure. At the same time it aims at the revaluation of the residential environment and the identification of innovative financing instruments.
The project has a duration of 3 years and project partnership consists of 16 partners from Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as well as Russia and Belarus. In addition, 20 associated organisations from all five EU-partner countries are involved, which ensures a strong national backup. Many of the participants in Urb.Energy have been project partners in BEEN, and are now members of BEENetwork.
